Pages Per Day // December

The last of our page tracking numbers for 2020 is finally here. The last Pages Per Day.
I have now decided, well we have, that after recording our pages for the first half of January we actually aren't going to carry this on through this year. It's just an extra task that takes time but serves no real purpose. Reading isn't about numbers or competition and we've known that all along. We did this to give us motivation and see how well we were doing but we are in a great routine with reading and have many great books to get around to in 2021.

Days 1 - 7 =  264
Days 8 - 14 = 264
Days 15 - 21 = 264
Days 22 - 28 = 193
Days 29 - 30  = 92

Monthly total = 1,077

Days 1 - 7 =  503
Days 8 - 14 = 270
Days 15 - 21 = 586
Days 22 - 28 = 162
Days 29 - 30  = 166

Monthly total = 1,687

December was a good reading month! You'll see in our quarterly round-ups how many books we actually got through, but I know I for sure super bypassed my TBR list which was brilliant.

Below is a total of these monthly 'PPD' posts along with what Goodreads has told us our yearly pages read were. I can only assume the discrepancy is where books on Goodreads include cover to cover as numbered pages.
Mr H annual page total (minus January) - 12,781 [GR - 13,918]
Mrs H annual total - 15,167 [GR - 16,632]

More on all that in our 2020 Goodreads Overviews though...

Until next time!

Pages Per Day // November

Just like the title says, this is our Pages Per Day check-in for November. There are no goals or aims because as I have said in previous posts, we've both bypassed our total books read goal for the year already and anything on top is a bonus. We're in the swing with a routine and remember the importance of enjoyment in reading rather than forcing it.

Days 1 - 7 =  233
Days 8 - 14 = 222
Days 15 - 21 =  191
Days 22 - 28 = 210
Days 29 - 30  =  101

Monthly total = 957

/

Days 1 - 7 =  242
Days 8 - 14 = 239
Days 15 - 21 =  173
Days 22 - 28 = 291
Days 29 - 30  = 167

Monthly total = 1112

Coincidentally, our TBR page totals for November ended up being 966 and 960 respectively so as you can see we both pretty much hit that. Our quarterly round-ups (the next of which will be up around January/February) will show more of what we actually read in terms of following the TBR lists or not, because I have a funny feeling Mr H read something other than his TBR and I also read an extra too!

Pages Per Day // October

Another quick one today just to get us finally caught up! The problem with taking a break from a blog that has time and month related content! Have a peek back at our last couple of posts to read about why I've had to play catch up... now onto what we all read page wise in October.

Days 1 - 7 =  249
Days 8 - 14 = 250
Days 15 - 21 = 415
Days 22 - 28 = 130
Days 29 - 31  =  84

Monthly total = 1,128

Days 1 - 7 =  282
Days 8 - 14 = 208
Days 15 - 21 = 418
Days 22 - 28 = 312
Days 29 - 31  =  124

Monthly total = 1,344

Another couple of thousand pages down between us both and we're coming into the home stretch of the year. We decided to add up the page totals for 2020 so far, up until the end of October and came out with around 10,000 for Mr H  and 12,000 for myself which is pretty cool to know. Let's see how we do with the rest of the year...

Pages Per Day // September

It is indeed November and you did read the above correctly, September Pages Per Day. We ended up having an extended, unplanned break from this blog for over 5 weeks. Mr H works 6 days a week meaning any time he does have off is scarce and sacred. He had a week off during October, which is when we should have been on our honeymoon, but we tried to spend that time recouping and just spending time together. Therefore we have a small back log of posts to write and publish before we can start fresh in the new year. Here are our pages per day for September!

Days 1 - 7 =  171
Days 8 - 14 = 146
Days 15 - 21 = 360
Days 22 - 28 = 174
Days 29 - 31  =  66

Monthly total = 917

Days 1 - 7 =  327
Days 8 - 14 = 345
Days 15 - 21 = 380
Days 22 - 28 = 191
Days 29 - 31  =  120

Monthly total = 1,363

Our TBR total pages for September were exactly 1,000 (what are the chances?!) for Mr H and 1,022 for myself. I think we have been doing pretty good, don't you?! What have you been reading lately? Do you track your pages? I really do find it a motivation to keep reading daily. We read every night in bed which helps us sleep better too.

Pages Per Day // August

August pages per day post has come around even faster than July's post did! 8 full months of reading down, and 39 books read for me, 30 for Mr H. Our page total TBR goals for August were 943 pages and 971 pages respectively...see below to find out how we did and if having already passed our book goal for the year took away our motivation...

Days 1 - 7 =  238
Days 8 - 14 = 239
Days 15 - 21 = 149
Days 22 - 28 = 143
Days 29 - 31  =  90

Monthly total = 859

As you can see my TBR pages and actually read pages don't match up. I completed two books from my TBR and DNFed the third one with less than a quarter to go. If I'd DNFed sooner, I'd have gotten more reading done because this definitely held me back but I was determined to get through it! You'll see which book it was in our quarterly round up...

Days 1 - 7 =  304
Days 8 - 14 = 351
Days 15 - 21 = 186
Days 22 - 28 = 327
Days 29 - 31  =  129

Monthly total = 1,297

I read 4 full books in August, my TBR 3 plus a re-read of one of my favourite books from The Chronicles of Narnia, The Magician's Nephew! I also finished a book that was started in the previous month. Like last month, you can see there was the odd not-as-good week but as I've passed my yearly goal I'm really not bothered haha.

Pages Per Day // July

It's time to look back at our 'Pages Per Day' that we read throughout July.
Our TBR page totals were 1,063 for Mrs H and 1,003 for Mr H so check out below to see how we did!

Days 1 - 7 =  275
Days 8 - 14 = 289
Days 15 - 21 = 341
Days 22 - 28 = 198
Days 29 - 31  =  164

Monthly total = 1,267

Oooh, see that little rubbish week I had at the end there?! I dunno what happened there. I was only reading in bed at night as opposed to during the day too and obviously was too tired to read more than a small pinch of pages. I made up for it on the 30th though haha!
Comparing to previous months, it does seem that my average lies at about 1,200 pages per month which in turn means I read around 38 pages per day. Could be better, but also could be a lot worse!

Days 1 - 7 = 212
Days 8 - 14 = 210
Days 15 - 21 = 254
Days 22 - 28 = 192
Days 22 - 24 = 70

Monthly Total = 938

Yes, I had a terrible month. I didn't even get to finish two books in my TBR but I'm well ahead of my yearly goal on the number of books I want to read so it's okay. Hopefully, I will have a better month this month, but as its already close to a week into the month and I haven't started my first book who knows what will happen...

Pages Per Day // June

June! So 2020 is already over halfway done and it really has been a great 6 months of reading. I've finished 31 books, Mr H has finished 24 and that means we've both already read more than what we read in the whole of 2019.
Our TBR totals for this month were 914 pages and 1,013 pages so have a look below to see if we've been able to stay on track with our reading and complete our TBRs...!

Days 1 - 7 =  313
Days 8 - 14 = 262
Days 15 - 21 = 320
Days 22 - 28 = 282
Days 29 - 30  =  56

Monthly total = 1,233

319 pages over my goal total! Not as good as last month but still not shabby. I'm super pleased to be able to even read 1000 pages over the month and the main thing is I am reading every single day, with the lowest daily pages being a minimum of 10.

Days 1 - 7 =  253
Days 8 - 14 = 404
Days 15 - 21 = 217
Days 22 - 28 = 329
Days 29 - 30  = 40

Monthly total = 1,243

I'm pretty happy with my total this month considering that I've been back to work and not getting to read on a morning or during the day at all anymore. I'm hoping to get myself into a routine of reading when I finish work but at the moment I'm happy with the amount I'm getting read.

Pages Per Day // May

Month 5 is over, we're entering into the halfway month of the year and we are both doing great with our reading goals for the years. Both of us are over 70% of the way done with our goals of 30 and 36 books respectively which feels awesome. It's not a competition or anything, I think I've said that before, but it's been fantastic motivation documenting our pages each day to get through our unread bookcases.
For May my TBR page total was 901 and Mr H's was 809...check it out below to see how we did.

Days 1 - 7 =  366
Days 8 - 14 = 280
Days 15 - 21 = 361
Days 22 - 28 = 264
Days 29 - 31  =  112

Monthly total = 1383

482 pages over my TBR page total! Woohoo! I actually read more than the above totals as I read an ebook, however, I hadn't been keeping a track of those pages seeing as they are on a phone screen and therefore less words per page...am I taking it all too far?! 7 books. 5 physical copies, 1 ebook. 1 audiobook.

Days 1 - 7 =  465
Days 8 - 14 = 416
Days 15 - 21 = 344
Days 22 - 28 = 331
Days 29 - 31  =  181

Monthly total = 1737

That's a lot of pages! 6 books this month, it felt good to get a lot of books under my belt during my time in lockdown. However, now I'm back to work so the reading is going to slow down again but I'm optimistic that I can hopefully still read more than my monthly TBR's just not nearly double it as in have done for the last two months.

Pages Per Day // April

Wow, now April was a reading reading month! Our current goal is 'around 1000' pages per month, so as Mr H's TBR totalled 886 pages over 3 books and Mrs H's TBR 953 pages over 2 books, it was our main goal just to complete those books. See below for the insane month we had...especially Mr H while furloughed.

Days 1 - 7 =  307
Days 8 - 14 = 284
Days 15 - 21 = 400
Days 22 - 28 = 292
Days 29 - 30  = 126

Monthly total = 1409

I ended up completing not only my 2 TBR books, but another 4 on top of that. Two of those were audiobooks so I don't include any pages read...since I technically can't keep a track of audio pages...but they have all helped me pass 20 book mark for this year! I'm currently 8 ahead of schedule and hope to keep up our routine of nightly reading and reading in the mornings too.

Days 1 - 7 =  664
Days 8 - 14 = 640
Days 15 - 21 = 438
Days 22 - 28 = 368
Days 29 - 30  = 116

Monthly total = 2226

This is the most books I have ever read in a short space of time! I think this is even more books than I read in 2018 total! I ended up reading 7 books in total and even a 5star book this month which I'm pretty sure I even had on a post we did about books we want to read this year.

Pages Per Day // March

Month 3 and we are doing pretty darn well at this if I do say so myself! Keeping track of pages really is motivation to read more without feeling as if you are forcing yourself.
My TBR for March totaled 928 pages over 3 books, where Mr H's total was 1,036 over 3 books. Check out below to see how we did and make sure to also have a look at our 'What We Read this Quarter' posts where we talk about books from our TBR we completed, DNFed or ones that we're last minute reads.
What Mrs Hallow Read This Quarter [January - March]
What Mr Hallow Read This Quarter [January - March]

Days 1 - 7 =  186
Days 8 - 14 = 146
Days 15 - 21 = 345
Days 22 - 28 = 425
Days 29 - 31  = 208

Monthly total = 1310

As you can see from my overall monthly page total I exceeded my TBR page total by 382. I read all 3 of my TBR pile, one other physical book and listened to two audio books (of which I am not counting in page totals...obviously).
With Mr H being home more these days with the current situation going on in the world, we have a good routine of reading every morning and every evening at least. Sometimes even more during the day especially if it's nice weather and we are out in the garden. I do read alone most mornings but it really helps me to read more when he is here, otherwise I end up just wandering off and doing bits around the house or get distracted by the animals.
My main goal for April's reading is to really try my hardest and stay over 10 pages minimum per day. It's not like I don't have the time...

Days 1 - 7 =  158
Days 8 - 14 = 169
Days 15 - 21 = 395
Days 22 - 28 = 230
Days 29 - 31  = 368

Monthly total = 1320

I think this is the first month I've ever read more than my TBR, i'm usually just scraping through getting my TBR read. As Mrs H mentioned above with the current situation with Covid-19 i'm currently at home and not working which is strange for me but defiantly welcomed. Not to mention the amount of extra reading i'm getting done!! check out that page total for me that is alot of pages! I cant wait to see how many I get through next month.

Pages Per Day // February

We're back with our second month of page tracking and I say 'we' because Mr H managed to keep a track of what he read too.
We both had our TBR lists and of course the total of those books was our reading goal. My own was 1008 pages over 3 books and Mr H's was 1322 over 2 books. This didn't exactly go to plan, which you will see more about below...

Days 1 - 7 =  251
Days 8 - 14 = 153
Days 15 - 21 = 252
Days 22 - 28 = 286
Day 29  = 10
Monthly total = 952

My personal aim was to read no less than 20 pages per day, which I feel I did pretty well with having 8 days under that goal and only 1 day of no reading at all! From my TBR my goal to complete all 3 books was 1008 pages. As you can see, that didn't happen, however I did actually finish a full 3 books...you'll see more about that at the end of the month in my quarterly reading round up.

----------

Day 1 - 7 = 119
Days 8 - 14 = 80
Days 15 - 21 = 92
Days 22 - 28 = 78
Day 29 = 10
Monthly total = 379

Well as you can seen I didn't get anywhere near my TBR for February, I had a very difficult month with work ect and my reading truly suffered because of this. This month I started a book and got nearly 200 pages in and then set it aside as I just couldn't get into it properly baring in mind its book 6 in a series I was was very disappointed in myself but I will pick it back up because I do love the series. I'm determined March will be a better month of reading and I'm looking forward to getting a few more titles finished!

Pages Per Day // January

In our previous blog post I quickly mentioned some goals regarding page totals etc and wanted to explain a little more before sharing this new series of posts.
Originally, the only goal we had when it came to reading was the aim of reading at least 3 books per month on average. Then I thought about the fact some of the books on my TBR could be 600 pages, while another could be 200...therefore if I read three 200 pages books or one 600 page one would mean I met my total book goal but not the other despite it being the same 'amount of reading' technically. Does that make sense? Haha.
Anyway, at the end of December I decided to track January's daily pages read...

Days 1 - 7 = 104
Days 8 - 14 = 155
Days 15 - 21 = 250
Days 22 - 28 = 194
Days 29 - 31 = 107

Monthly total = 810

Considering the turbulent month we all had, an overall total of 810 isn't completely shabby. I finished 4 books which proves my point about shorter books eh? Mr H did manage to track his pages last month but this month his TBR is two books seeing as one is approximately 1000 pages long!
Over my three TBR's I've 1008 pages to read and I'm hoping I can push myself to up my daily page totals to at least meet, if not surpass that goal.
We'll check back in next month with hopefully both of our February's pages per day tracked!
